History of Grandmama's House (the McCoy - Cash Family Home)

The McCoy - Cash Family Home was built in 1915 by E. P. McCoy and wife Emma.  Emma Patton McCoy was a daughter of T. T. Patton, one of the first settlers of the Township of Pisgah Forest.  The old "Patton House" is the 2 story white clapboard house still standing on Old US 64 approximately 1 block down the road on the right.  The Patton's also built the first General Store (Patton's Store) in Pisgah Forest which stood directly across the road from the McCoy house until the 1980's when it was torn down to build the current business.  The McCoy Family home was sold in September 1962 to Jesse Lloyd Cash and wife Bonnie.  The Cash family raised six children in the house.  Mr. Cash was a building contractor and remodeled the house himself.  The house was sold to the present owners, William and Julie Hendon in March 2004.
